Duration : 1.5hrs. (Can be spilt between the 2 subjects or alternate lessons per subject depending on the need during the lesson. Tutor must be flexible on this.
The tutor should be firm and patient and most importantly encouraging and engaging when explaining to my boy when he has difficulty understanding the concepts. He lacks confidence and tends to give up easily when he sees a difficult question. He needs a lot of encouragement and guidance. Tutor likely needs to explain concepts to my boy a few times / using different ways to explain to him for him to understand. He is one who is not able to look at the textbook/guidebook egs and try to understand from there on his own. He needs someone to guide/explain even for the guided egs.
My boy needs help particularly in how to revise/study for the subject as well as how to answer the Structured/Free Response Questions.
My boy once he understands a concept is able to pickup fast but when he is not able to connect the dots, and the tutor raises his voice or reprimands him, he will shut off and be lost immediately. He needs time to absorb the concepts. He basically needs a tutor who is patient and encouraging.
Also my boy is not comfortable if tutor leaves my boy in the study room asking him to make his own notes/ponder over what he needs help in or do not understand. Tutor should be sitting next to my boy, guiding him as and when needed.
