Experience and Dedication: English: I used to be extremely weak in English as a child but I managed to improve tremendously, such that I was able to score As for English consistently throughout upper primary as well as secondary school. I have also gone on to take Literature in secondary school and JC. Hence, I understand the struggles faced by students (especially younger students) in their pursuit to improve their English language skills. As such, I seek to inspire a love for the English language in my students, which I believe is the key to improvement. In order to do so, I strive to come up with creative ways to enhance the learning experiences of my students, as the optimal method to improve one’s language skills definitely lies beyond practice papers! Not only that, I believe that tutoring requires one to be empathetic and patient - qualities which I possess. Thus, I will try my best to understand my students’ difficulties and adapt my approach to help them improve as much as I can. Chinese: I have always been strong in the Chinese language since primary school and consistently took Higher Chinese through primary and secondary school. I also came from a SAP school background and is hence, proficient in both English and Chinese. As such, I am equipped with the ability to enhance my students’ understanding of the Chinese language as I will be able to communicate effectively with them (especially for students who are significantly stronger in and resultantly reliant on English to converse). Not only that, I value and possess a deep interest in the Chinese language, which I hope to eventually inculcate in my students as well!
