Experience and Dedication: - Achieved A2 in O level English exam - Achieved second upper honours in BA (Hons) Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Durham University in UK. - I have been teaching English, Maths and Science at primary and secondary levels for the past 5 years. - I have also been tutoring British students for GCSE. Secondary English - Have been teaching O level English for the past 5 years, with students making huge improvements after just one month of lessons - My approach is to let students enjoy the language and read more, and hence learning vocabulary the organic way. - In my lessons, I would expose my students to a variety of different readings, to gain content knowledge. We would then discuss these readings to develop students' critical thinking skills, which is necessary for formulating clear arguments for paper 1. - My strategy is to expose students to a variety of topics by setting some compulsory reading, then discussing the readings with them. This allows them to develop critical thinking skills which is important for paper 2 as well. - For paper 2, I will go through question types and how to answer them correctly so that this can be applied to any passage in an exam - I will source for notes based after assessing student's needs. - Will provide own notes, which are compiled notes and resources over my 3 years of English tutoring that are concise and easy to understand. - Student improvement: I have had 5 O level English students in the past 2 years, all have made tremendous progress under my tutelage, with 2 going from 30 to 50-60 within 3 months. International student achieved A at IGCSE (similar syllabus to O Level English). I am very well experienced with online lessons. Secondary Maths - I am familiar with a variety of exam syllabus, including IGCSE. - I would go through proofs, exploring the HOW and WHY of the math concept - Then I will demonstrate with a few example questions - After that, I will let students practice the questions independently, guiding them if/when they make mistakes Secondary History/SS - Go through content first, making sure student understands the story and rationale behind events that happened - An emphasis on skills and critical thinking - I make lessons interesting by showing Youtube videos - Achieved As for PSLE English, Math and Science For upper primary maths: - We will do topical practices first, starting from the easiest and progressively harder questions - I will ask student his/her thought process, and work on this problem solving process and applying concepts For upper primary science: - I will focus on understanding science concepts to master the MCQ - Emphasise on answering techniques - Go through how to apply keywords and concepts to section B questions
