Awards include MOE-based (Edusave Scholarship x3, Edusave Academic Achievement x3, Education Merit x3, EAGLES x4, Edusave Character x6), Secondary-based (Top in Lit, Good Character x2), and Primary-based (Sr. Finbarr - Most All-Rounded, Academic Excellence x4, Top in Level x3, Best in English x2).
I value empathy, responsibility, and adaptability. My teaching encourages out-of-the-box thinking, combining methodologies like interactive discussions, visual learning, real-life and relatable applications, analogies/metaphors, and more—ensuring the final output aligns with the school syllabus. I provide personalised adaptive learning for each tutee’s learning style, to relate to them better and make learning fun and gamified, yet help them think critically and effectively improve. To keep my lessons engaging and current, I use digital learning tools, AI-assisted analysis, and interactive methods that can complement traditional teaching.
During lessons, I balance structure and warmth, explaining concepts clearly and patiently, while also encouraging tutees to express thoughts freely. I affirm effort–not just results—to build confidence and a growth mindset. For parents, I prioritise transparent communication, with regular updates on their child’s progress, explaining not only what we covered but the student’s learning habits, challenges, and improvements too. I am also flexible to adapt my methodologies’ focuses based on the student’s and/or parent’s needs.
I have had 3 tutees (‘24–‘26). I helped struggling students turn failing grades into passes and higher, and strong ones sustain excellence. A P4 student improved from AL5 to AL1–3 through concept mastery, maintaining high grades; another rose from AL7 to AL5 with guided practice; a P6 student advanced from AL7 to AL6 through targeted revision and confidence-building. All students improved, climbing grades via structured lessons and tailored practice.
I draw on my literary background to teach creatively and bring out the best in students, by helping them develop critical thinking and linguistic precision. I am the published author of Anatomy Speaking (poetry book with 114 original poems) and Frog at the Pond (children’s storybook). I am the Founder/Editor-in-Chief of The Astraea Collective (global literary arts magazine), Founder of The Ringtail Bandit Mail Club (global literary arts business), and Founding Member of The Cedar Scoop (civic journalism platform for global literacy). I was a school rep at Singapore Perspectives, and National Schools Literature Festival (Opposition Debater). I am a singer-songwriter, with over 200 original songs (45 released). One was dedicated/performed to former SG President, Mdm Halimah Yacob, at the Istana, invited by National Youth Council.
